Kathleen  has always loved to make jewelry. She is well known in the community for her delicious bead combinations, wire work and her wiilingness to share beady information and inspiration with her customers and everyone else that comes through the doors at Downeast Sticks'n Stones Bead Shop. Kathleen and her girls teach others to bead and offer basic beading skills instruction for free.  We also have other great instructors that are masters at their respective projects and style.

In 2000, Kathleen started making jewelry again after a car accident and physical therapy convinced her to share her talent for jewelry making and passion for beads with her girls and the community-at-large by selling her jewelry at local Western NY shops, Juried Shows and shops in Downeast Maine. Kathleen never thought about opening a business until she came home to Maine and there just weren't any bead shops close to the Brewer/Bangor area. She loved to design and make jewelry and being tactile herself she banked on the fact that there were other artists out there that would just have to touch the beads.                             
                          
In the summer of 2006, after coming home to Maine, Kathleen's husband Jon, sisters Sheila and Mary and daughters Sarah, Susan, Katelyn and Emily helped her open the doors of Downeast Sticks'n Stones Bead Shop. Ever since then, Downeast Sticks'n Stones has been a much treasured fixture in Brewer. Consistent quality, a warm and friendly atmosphere, and plenty of beads with new selections weekly make this Bead Shop the favorite place for new and experienced beaders alike. In fact, many seasonal visitors have been coming back year after year enjoying the everchanging selections. Our Stone beads and Czech glass are unmatched in Quality and diversity in Maine. Downeast Sticks'n Stones Bead Shop is not only famous for their fantastic selection of stone, glass, freshwater pearls, South Sea Pearls, responsibly harvested Corals Carmina Glass Pearls, Wood and organic beads and supplies they also boast about ALL of their metal findings, charms and beads being nickel and lead free. Kathleen and her girls have been teaching the freshest designs, as well as, repairing vintage and new jewelry, We Build Classic Wedding Jewelry and Custom pieces. Every custom piece is made with love just for you!
